Automation Engineer Intern – Summer 2026
Overview
US Conec is offering a hands-on internship opportunity for an Automation Engineer Intern to join our Fort Worth team in Summer 2026. In this role, you’ll collaborate with automation and engineering teams to design, test, and improve systems that keep production running smarter and faster. You’ll gain exposure to robotics, CAD modeling, scripting, and data analysis while contributing to real-world automation projects that support high-precision fiber optic manufacturing.
This internship is ideal for students pursuing engineering degrees who are excited by hands-on problem solving and eager to learn in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Integrate robotic material handling into injection molding cells
- Develop end-of-arm tooling and vision-based inspection systems
- Write simple programs or scripts (Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.) to streamline workflows
- Assist in developing fixtures, jigs, or CAD models that integrate with automation equipment
- Collect and analyze production data to identify efficiency improvements
- Document test procedures, work instructions, and operator training materials
Projects You May Work On
- Scope development through data gathering and voice-of-customer input
- CAD modeling of components using Autodesk Inventor
- Design validation through empirical testing or mechanical modeling
- Integration and troubleshooting of mechanical systems
Must Haves
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with automation systems, robotics, or PLC programming basics
- Comfort working in CAD platforms (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excited by details, challenges, and learning in a collaborative environment
