JOB SUMMARY, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, JOB REQUIREMENTS
SUMMARY
The Paralegal provides essential legal and administrative support to the organization’s attorneys by preparing and reviewing legal documents, conducting research, organizing case files, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all legal materials. This role supports case preparation, maintains confidential records, coordinates communication across departments and external partners, and helps ensure all legal operations run efficiently. The Paralegal must demonstrate strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while supporting attorneys within a fast-paced environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drafting legal documents including deposition notices, certifications, contracts, briefs, complaints, subpoenas, motions, and pleadings.
- Conducting legal research into case law, and interviewing clients and witnesses under Litigation Counsel supervision.
- Creating summaries of depositions and testimonies.
- Assist attorneys with case preparation and internal legal workflows.
- Filing documents with any applicable court systems.
- Review documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage and organize confidential files and records.
- Coordinate communication between internal departments, outside counsel, and vendors.
- Provide general legal administrative support as assigned.
- Ensure all work complies with legal standards and attorney directives.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education/training is a bonus.
- Completion of the required associate or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or a closely related field.
- Preferred: Paralegal certification from a national association such as NALA, NFPA, or another recognized credentialing body.
- No prior experience required, though relevant experience may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Occasional standing or walking within the office or to other facilities.
- Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours with breaks).
- Occasional bending, reaching, and stooping.
- Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and handling documents.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computers, copiers, and phones).
- Adequate vision for reading and computer use (corrective lenses acceptable).
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively, including via phone.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies or small packages).
- Ability to climb stairs.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Driver's License and/or reliable transportation. Employees may be required to report to different locations for work, and attend offsite meetings, training sessions, conferences, events, etc.
- Proficiency in property management software.
- Proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Office and Gsuite.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, Federal, State, and Local Laws pertaining to Fair Housing and Landlord/Tenant Laws.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully.
