Process Engineer Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
The key activities will be to address the design of manufacturing processes and mechanical elements within the Silicone and Grease Departments to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of equipment. Coordinates activities through optimization, development and implementation phases of project and product plans. Identifies and develops solutions for continuous improvement initiatives in the areas of equipment utilization and effectiveness, yields, processing rates, and safety.

  • Collect and analyze operational data to identify opportunities for process optimization and update equipment capabilities and performance.
  • Analyzes equipment downtime data and develops action plans to improve OEE, yield and reliability.  Develop and utilize key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance and capability.
  • Troubleshoots daily operational challenges; first point of contact for shift teams. Support troubleshooting efforts for equipment and process issues, collaborating with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Leads process improvement teams identifying and escalating all areas of improvement.
  • Researches and identifies root cause on customer complaints. Work with team to develop and implement corrective action plan and implementation.
  • Supports capital projects from define through commercialization. These can include equipment upgrades and new installations.
  • Work with operations leaders to develop efficient, standardized work processes
  • Maintain accurate records of trial results, process changes, and performance metrics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Provide feedback and insights from operational experience to inform engineering decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during all activities.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Prior experience as a chemical operator or in a related manufacturing role.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience preferably in a process-oriented manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical inclination and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and working with Maintenance.
  • Proven knowledge in process equipment and instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, P&IDs, and SOPs.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPC software).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, well organized, systems/process thinker.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical skills/knowledge including OEE, Kaizen, PFMEA, SPC, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards a plus.
  • Team player, achievement-oriented, problem solver, analytical, practical, communicator.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any direct reports.

  

Work Environment

This job operates in a Manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and Manufacturing equipment such as pallet jacks, powered and hand tools.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift equipment and tools, up to 35 pounds. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30am. to 4:00 pm.  Based on business activity longer hours maybe required and must be flexible in work hours. Will be on-call for troubleshooting and support for 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be necessary.  

Required Education and Experience

  • Prior experience as a chemical operator or in a related manufacturing role.
  • Minimum of 10 years' work experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience in relationship building with internal and external customers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
