Job Overview
The Agronomy Operations Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting fertilizer season activities across our chemical, liquid, and dry fertilizer facilities. This role is fast-paced, flexible, and offers the chance to work alongside experienced team members in a variety of operational tasks. In addition to daily operations, interns may also get exposure to agronomy sales by occasionally working with our Agronomy Sales Manager. This internship is designed to provide a well-rounded understanding of how agronomy operations and sales work together in a real-world agribusiness setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operational tasks within agronomy operations
- Gain hands-on experience with equipment such as fertilizer spreaders, truck spreaders, tender trucks, liquid fertilizer systems, seed treating equipment, delivery vehicles, chemical applicators, and water trucks
- Assist with loading, unloading, and delivery of seed, fertilizer, chemical, and grain products
- Learn the features and benefits of agronomy products and services while helping deliver products to customers
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of agronomy and grain facilities
- Develop knowledge of fertilizer application processes, including field locations, product verification, and accurate placement
- Clean and organize chemical totes to support safe and efficient operations
- Build understanding of chemical, liquid fertilizer, and grain inventory management, including reporting procedures
- Assist with inventory tracking and control practices
- Develop a growing understanding of the connection between agronomy operations and agronomy sales
Key Deliverables
- Learn about Northside’s goods, services, and operations
- Gain experience in agronomy daily business (operations and sales)
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations
- Present a final project, a PowerPoint presentation of the internship to upper management
Job Requirements
- Education: Minimum requirement of a high school degree or equivalent; Must be currently pursuing degree from an accredited program and in good academic standing at the time the internship begins, preference given to students pursuing an Ag Business, Ag Management, Crop Science, Soil Science, or similar Agricultural degree
- Certification: Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
