ABOUT THE TEAM 🤝
As a Data Engineer Intern, you’ll use analytical skills, SQL, AI tooling, and reporting tools to analyze and detect data inconsistencies and identify opportunities for improving our ML & AI-driven data enrichment pipeline. Your work will help millions of happy Rocket Money users gain powerful insights to better manage their finances. Interns at Rocket Money gain valuable, hands-on experience. You’ll experience the workplace environment firsthand and participate in solving complex problems with cutting-edge technology.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:
- Fine-tune prompts and iteratively improve our datasets
- Develop SQL code for reporting purposes
- Create ad hoc SQL queries to address business questions
- Identify opportunities to enhance our data quality by labeling and retraining models to improve user outcomes
- Update and manage monitoring dashboards
- Assist in troubleshooting real issues reported by production users
ABOUT YOU 🦄
Required Qualifications:
- Progress toward or completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Strong curiosity: You enjoy tackling interesting and sometimes ambiguous problems
- User-focused passion: You care deeply about using technology to positively impact people’s financial lives
- Data enthusiasm: You enjoy discovering patterns and transforming findings into actionable insights to share with the team. You’re excited by activities like improving training data sets or refining LLM prompts
- Commitment to quality: You believe every user’s data accuracy matters and take initiative to fix issues
- Exceptional communication and self-leadership skills
- Experience writing SQL queries
- Proactive approach to seeking challenges, feedback, and growth opportunities
Preferred Skills:
- SQL writing experience
- Familiarity with machine learning methodologies
- Experience with LLM technologies and prompt engineering
- Knowledge of software development practices — Python or TypeScript experience is a plus
