Compliance and Delinquency Auditor
COMPLIANCE AND DELINQUENCY AUDITOR
Overview:
The Central Pension Fund of the International Union of Operating Engineers and Participating Employers (“Central Pension Fund”)—a multiemployer defined benefit pension fund with over $25 billion in assets, 6,100 contributing employers, and 200,000 participants and beneficiaries—is seeking an Auditor to join its in-house legal department in Washington, DC. The Auditor will perform audits of participating employers to ensure employers are compliant with plan rules and requirements and monitor delinquent employers. This position will work closely with participating employers, all levels of staff and management, and union officials.

Responsibilities:
- Schedule and coordinate audit appointments with employers;
- Analyze and review payroll, tax, and personnel records to determine employer compliance with collective bargaining agreements;
- Create reports of audit findings for internal review and application;
- Assist in monitoring and managing the Fund’s delinquency control program and related collections matters;
- Coordinate collection cases with internal legal counsel;
- Monitor and maintain records relating to settlement agreements;
- Receive and review audit results from outside auditors, prepare audit billing correspondence as warranted, and maintain appropriate records;
- Other duties as may be assigned according to the needs of the Fund.
Qualifications and Skills:
- BS/BA degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration) or equivalent experience with multi-employer, Taft-Hartley, defined benefit plans
- Strong analytical ability to research payroll records, reports, and Collective Bargaining Agreements and prepare detailed audit reports and results
- Ability to analyze and apply ERISA, DOL, and IRS Regulations as related to employer contributions
- Possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills as well as familiarity with other Microsoft software
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- A strong understanding of payroll compliance audits, payroll taxes, and personnel records is desirable
- Must have reliable transportation in order to drive to employer locations for audit assignments. Local travel and up to 20% out-of-town travel required.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000
