Cloud Services Intern

Our internship program is designed to give you comprehensive experience in the fast-paced world of wireless and technology industries. With hands-on field experience and business projects, you will get an in-depth look at how our business works and where you fit into it. Help us build our brand while we help you build yours.

Our interns partner with teams across EchoStar working to drive our latest game-changing innovation. Our internship is a 10 week, in-person experience that is paid hourly with eligible overtime. Interns are given a business project(s) to complete over the summer and present their results to leadership and their peers. EchoStar provides each intern with a manager to support them with the execution of their project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and implementing basic CI/CD pipelines (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) for automated training, testing, and deployment of ML models using tools like GitLab CI or Jenkins.
  • Work with Python-based frameworks (e.g., Flask/FastAPI) to containerize and integrate ML models as microservices or APIs.
  • Gain exposure to enterprise observability tools like Dynatrace, Prometheus, or Grafana. Assist in configuring dashboards and alerts to monitor key metrics (e.g., model latency, resource utilization).
  • Participate in investigating and documenting potential performance bottlenecks or system issues through basic Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Apply foundational software engineering principles, including version control (Git), code reviews, and basic unit testing for production code.
  • Support the team in managing containerized workloads using Docker and learn basic administration tasks within Kubernetes clusters on a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Education and Experience:

  • GPA 3.3 or above
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Must have 60 credit hours completed by May 2026

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in Python (experience with ML/data science libraries like NumPy or Pandas is a plus).
  • Solid working experience with Git and GitHub/GitLab.
  • Basic understanding of Machine Learning concepts (training, evaluation, model lifecycle).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong curiosity to learn new tools and systems.
  • Coursework or project experience using basic cloud services (e.g., AWS EC2, S3).
  • Familiarity with Docker and the concept of containerization.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code concepts (e.g., Terraform).
  • Knowledge of monitoring principles (metrics, logs, traces) or exposure to any APM/Observability tool.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
