Structural Engineer
General Purpose:
Responsible for performing calculations and creating structural deliverables for heavy industrial facilities and engineered systems. Work is performed at the direction of a Senior/Lead Engineer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create structural engineering deliverables including the design and analysis of structural steel and foundations in the heavy industrial sector.
Advise on design principles and standards.
Develop sketches and coordinate the completion of associated 3D models with the design team.
Review and check team deliverables.
Manage and coordinate technical deliverables for multiple projects on a continuous basis.
Provide technical support on construction or operating sites, as needed.
Provide technical oversight, guidance, and peer review in the Design team.
Monitor and report weekly on the status of current structural design projects.
Effectively communicate and project the principles of the Talent Advantaged Roadmap.
Perform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in structural engineering.
Professional Engineer License, Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or willingness to take the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
Display a good working knowledge of industry standard design practices, good mechanical aptitude, and general knowledge of engineering.
Ability to learn design codes, standards, and specifications (ASME, ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC).
Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with all levels in the company.
Ability to attain and promote good customer relationships (both internal and external).
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to learn or possess previous experience with structural design and analysis software (STAAD, or similar).
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word with intermediate skills in Excel and Outlook.
