Legislative Director

Legislative Director Wanted in NYC,Full-Time, $60k-75K DOE, Benefits

The Legislative Director leads the office’s legislative, budget, and policy agenda in partnership with the Chief of Staff and the APA Task Force Executive Director, and in collaboration with the Assembly Member, colleagues, government partners, constituents, and advocates. 

The role will require the ability to manage competing priorities and timelines, solve problems, and keep the Assembly Member and Chief of Staff updated on projects. Daily work and responsibilities will vary.

Qualifications

2–3+ years of experience in government, journalism, advocacy, or political comms 

Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills. 

Familiarity with New York’s legislative and media environment 

Proficiency with tools such as Canva, Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, social scheduling tools, etc. 

Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in high-pressure settings. 

Bilingual or multilingual applicants strongly encouraged to apply. 

Ability to travel periodically.
