Social Media Internship

The Rochester Red Wings are offering an educational opportunity for a talented Social Media Intern to enhance their skills in digital marketing and content creation. This internship will involve learning how to create engaging content for various social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, and providing in-game coverage through updates, highlights, photos, and more.

Educational Experience

As a Social Media Intern, you will receive training that builds on classroom knowledge and academic experience, closely supervised by experienced professionals. This internship aims to enhance your skills, providing you with practical knowledge and experience that are transferable to any similar business in the field. You will have the opportunity to engage in real-world projects, gaining insights into social media strategies and digital content creation for a professional sports organization.

Key Learning Areas

  • Content Creation: Learn to create engaging content for social media channels, including posts, videos, and stories for platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
  • In-Game Coverage: Gain experience providing live game coverage through updates, highlights, and photos.
  • Platform Management: Understand the nuances of different social media platforms and how to effectively manage them.
  • Creative Skills: Develop your research and creative skills to produce content that resonates with our audience.
  • Communication: Enhance your written and verbal communication skills by crafting compelling messages for our followers.
  • Meeting Planning and Preparation: Learn how to plan and prepare for meetings, including setting agendas, coordinating schedules, and documenting key discussion points and action items.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Film, Marketing, Social Media, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience with social media platforms and knowledge of MLB.
  • Clear understanding of baseball scenarios for live game coverage.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent research and creative skills.
  • Professionalism, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Photography, videography, graphic design experience, and bilingual skills (English and Spanish or Japanese) are a plus.
  • Must be fulfilling academic credit requirements for the internship.
