JOB TITLE: Paraprofessional / IA (Special Education)
ABOUT THE SCHOOL:
The Foster School Department is seeking a highly qualified paraprofessional to serve as a long term substitute. Paine School (PreK-5) is a 2022 National Blue Ribbon recipient dedicated to educating the whole child through creativity, collaboration, and continual learning. We integrate technology, focus on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and use Responsive Classroom practices to foster a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment. Our students, families, and staff work together to ensure a top-tier educational experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The instructional paraprofessional supports teachers and related service personnel in delivering high-quality instruction, implementing behavioral plans, and fostering social, emotional, and academic development for all students, with a focus on those with special education needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
- Appropriate certification as a Teacher Assistant through RIDE or evidence of completion of an associate degree or higher;
- Evidence of knowledge and skills necessary to perform the functions of the position;
- Evidence of knowledge and/or implementation of instructional/behavioral strategies, materials and/or technologies;
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and training that may include the use of adaptive instructional and assessment materials;
- Demonstrated ability to learn new strategies, techniques, and technologies effectively;
- Ability to occasionally lift or restrain students;
- Effective written and oral communication skills;
- Be of good character;
- Training in the use of adaptive software, instructional and assessment materials;
- and / or any combination of education, experience, and knowledge and skills deemed substantially equivalent by the school committee or designee to those listed above
