Planning Internship

Under the direction of the City’s Principal Planner, the Planning intern may assist with reviews of development plans and projects, including in the City’s historic districts; development of informational material related to planning, zoning, and historic preservation; research related to community engagement, land use and zoning, urban & regional planning, and more. Professional development of staff, including interns, is an important part of employment with East Lansing’s Planning and Zoning Division, and we seek opportunities to attend educational events. This internship opportunity is funded by the East Lansing Planning and Zoning Division. Due to the nature of this position, individuals should preferably be able to attend periodic evening events during the work week. Availability to work during weekend hours to support community events is preferred.
