Internship Title: Development Internship
Internship Description: Ayuda is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented development intern to support our efforts to engage donors, corporate partners, and community stakeholders. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in immigrant rights, nonprofit development, and corporate philanthropy to get hands-on experience in individual and institutional fundraising, event planning, research, and donor engagement.
The intern will receive training and mentorship and contribute to a variety of projects that help sustain and grow Ayuda’s mission-driven work.

Responsible to: Development & Communications Associate, Oyin Shoola
Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Participation:
- Assist with the logistical planning and organization of external events.
- Attend events as an Ayuda ambassador to represent the organization and engage with participants.
Donor Research and Analysis:
- Conduct research on prospective and current donors, family foundations, and corporations as assigned.
- Assist in developing detailed donor profiles and maintaining accurate donor databases.
CRM Maintenance and Reporting:
- Support data entry, clean-up, and reporting in Salesforce and other platforms.
- Help maintain data integrity to inform fundraising strategies and measure impact.
Corporate Impact Reporting:
- Research Pro-Bono Partner Impact Report Trends
- Draft and design corporate impact reports to showcase partnership value.
- Help coordinate communications and engagement with corporate partners.
Communications and Design:
- Draft email communications and design graphics for donor cultivation and stewardship efforts.
- Ensure all communications align with Ayuda's branding and messaging guidelines.
Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the Development team as needed.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Required:
- A belief that all people should have access to professional, honest, and ethical services, regardless of ability to pay or status in this country.
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Comfortable working under deadlines with attention to detail.
- Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources with speed and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Creativity with a desire to present and try out new ideas.
- Be receptive to feedback and willing to make necessary changes or adjustments to your work.
- Based in the Washington, DC region.
- Completion of background check.
Preferred:
- Fluency in a second language.
- Previous experience helping, supporting, or working with immigrants/immigration groups.
- Previous experience in fundraising on behalf of another organization, for your sorority/fraternity/club/team/school, or for a cause.
- Technical experience in any database, CRM, or donation platform, such as Classy and Salesforce.
- Previous internship experience, preferably with a nonprofit, NGO, or international organization.
Commitment: We are looking for a spring intern who can dedicate 20 - 24 hours per week for 12 – 14 weeks to provide programmatic and administrative support. The internship would begin in January and wrap up by mid-May. Interns will be asked to assist through our Standing With Immigrants event in late April/early May and two weeks beyond for debrief/follow-ups needed. The exact start and end dates are flexible. Interns are expected to assist with internship responsibilities at least 2 days a week, which can be completed remotely or in office. Interns can assist remotely but will be required to join certain events in the DMV region during the course of the internship.
Compensation: This internship offers a stipend of $200 to cover the costs associated with completion of in-person days (transportation, gas, parking, food, etc.). Stipends are determined based on the number of in person days per week the specific internship requires. Interns are welcome to complete more in person days than required but such days are not included in the internship stipend.
Technology Needs: We will provide the intern with a laptop, and they will need to have access to reliable internet connection for video conferences and email communication when working remotely.
