On-Call STEM Coding & Robotics Instructor
Digital Dreamers STEAM Academy is seeking an On-Call STEM Coding & Robotics Instructor to support our after-school programs in Crockett, CA. This is an as-needed substitute role for someone who can step in right away when coverage is needed or be available weekly for short teaching shifts.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching kids, has a STEM or tech background, and feels confident leading fun, structured lessons in basic robotics and beginner-friendly coding.
Responsibilities:
- Step in to lead or support coding and robotics classes when a substitute instructor is needed.
- Teach beginner-level robotics and coding concepts using platforms such as LEGO Robotics, Sphero, Scratch, and Code.org.
- Facilitate hands-on activities that encourage problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity.
- Follow prepared lesson plans and adapt as needed to support student learning.
- Maintain a safe, engaging, and positive classroom environment.
- Communicate with program coordinators regarding attendance, class updates, and student progress.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching or working with children (elementary or middle school preferred).
- Familiarity with basic coding and robotics platforms (e.g., Scratch, LEGO Robotics, Sphero).
- Comfortable leading a class independently, sometimes on short notice.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Reliable transportation and flexible availability during after-school hours.
- Must pass a background check and complete required onboarding.
Program Details:
- Location: Crockett, CA
- Hours: 2–7 hours per week, depending on coverage needs
- Schedule: After-school hours, Monday–Friday
- Start: Can start immediately OR be available on call
