Position Summary:

Empowered Building’s is actively recruiting an Audit Team Intern to support on-site surveys, technical analysis, and project development and deliverables related to Local Law energy compliance and ASHRAE energy audit assessments.

Core Duties / Responsibilities:

• Assist in the project development process working on technical assignments alongside the team.
• On-site Building Assessment: Conduct on-site building assessments to determine potential energy upgrade opportunities as well as identify existing building energy system deficiencies.
• Technical Analysis: Complete project calculations using utility, equipment, and building data to develop energy conservation and retro-commissioning measure recommendations.
• Report Development: Prepare formal report documentation of audit findings with estimates of utility cost savings and carbon emissions reduction resulting from measure recommendations.
• Project Manage the implementation of energy conservation measures and utility incentive procurement.

Required Skills / Abilities:

• Ability to learn technical concepts related to building equipment and energy use.
• Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Basic understanding of building equipment systems.
• Strong verbal & written communication skills and ability to interact well with customers & team.
• Ability to organize and self‐manage assignments and deadlines.

Preferred Skills / Abilities:

• Basic understanding of energy conservation techniques.
• Ability to conduct in‐field energy assessments.
• Knowledge of NYC's building energy local laws.

Preferred Education / Experience:

• Experience with mechanical related systems and demonstrated interest in energy conservation.
• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or degree in related technical field.
• On‐the-job training provided for comprehensive understanding of energy audit and analysis.

Location:

• Position reports to Empowered Building’s Manhattan office in Midtown.
• Expected travel and time on-site is approximately 30% of total work schedule.
