About the Role

The Entry-Level Solutions Engineer – Energy Storage Systems (ESS) plays a key role in supporting the design, integration, and delivery of battery energy storage solutions for commercial, industrial, and utility customers. This position assists senior engineers in system design, technical modeling, project proposals, and customer-facing technical support for lithium-ion and next-generation energy storage technologies.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project management—to ensure ESS solutions meet customer requirements, safety standards, and performance specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in designing battery energy storage system (BESS) configurations, including sizing, component selection, and performance modeling.

Support technical proposals, system layouts, and single-line diagrams for customer projects.

Conduct preliminary energy modeling, load analysis, and performance simulations.

Prepare technical documentation such as datasheets, drawings, integration guides, and system specifications.

Participate in customer meetings to gather technical requirements and translate them into engineering solutions.

Support field teams with system commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance verification (remote and on-site).

Conduct analysis to evaluate system efficiency, safety, and thermal performance.

Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure system designs align with production capabilities.

Assist with regulatory compliance (UL, IEEE, NFPA, NEC), safety reviews, and internal engineering standards.

Manage engineering documentation, testing reports, and project tracking tools.

Qualifications

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:

Electrical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

Energy Engineering

Mechatronics Engineering

Engineering Technology

Related STEM degree with relevant coursework

Preferred Coursework or Knowledge

Energy storage systems

Power electronics / electric machines

Battery technology (Li-ion preferred)

Thermodynamics & heat transfer

High voltage systems (480V–1500V DC)

Controls or embedded systems fundamentals

Technical Skills

Understanding of batteries, inverters, PCS, thermal systems, and BMS fundamentals.

Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and mechanical drawings.

Familiarity with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or PVSyst (preferred but not required).

Strong Excel skills for data analysis and system modeling.

Basic understanding of NEC, NFPA, or UL standards related to electrical systems (bonus).

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Clear communication for internal and customer-facing technical discussions.

Ability to translate complex technical data into simple explanations.

Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Collaboration mindset with cross-functional engineering and project teams.
