SALARY RANGE
According to Salmon River Teachers Association Contract - Starting at $56,988 with potential for higher salary contingent on experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- NYS certification for Teacher of Special Education
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Strong communication and collaborative consultation skills
MAJOR DUTIES
- Engages and collaborates with colleagues and the community to development and sustain a common culture that supports high expectations for student learning
- Sets goals for and engage in ongoing professional development needed to continuously improve teaching competencies
- Reflects on your practice to improve instructional effectiveness and guide professional growth
- Understands and complies with relevant laws and policies as related to students’ rights and teachers’ responsibilities
- Understands, analyzes, interprets and use assessment data to monitor student progress and to plan instruction and assist the CSE to develop quality, standard-based IEP’s.
- Organizes and utilizes available resources (e.g. physical space, time, people, technology) to create a safe and productive learning environment
- Creates a mutually respectful, safe and supportive learning environment that is inclusive of every student
- Uses research-based practices and evidence of student learning to provide developmentally appropriate and standards-driven instruction that motivates and engages students in learning
- Establishes goals and expectations for all students that are aligned with learning standards and allow for multiple pathways to achievement including the new high school graduation requirements for Students with Disabilities
- Acquire knowledge of individual students from students, families, guardians, and/or caregivers to enhance student learning; keep parents informed regularly of their child’s progress via progress notes, phone calls, emails, parent/teacher conferences and CSE meetings
- Other responsibilities as designated by principal/Director of Special Education
