Engineering Intern
Position Overview
The Engineering Intern will support the engineering and manufacturing teams in developing, improving, and documenting CNC machining processes. The ideal candidate is a motivated engineering student with strong SolidWorks design skills and an interest in advanced manufacturing technologies. Prior experience with CNC machines, Mastercam, or Hypermill is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and documentation of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids using SolidWorks.
- Support the creation and improvement of CNC machining programs and setup documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Participate in process improvement and root-cause analysis activities for nonconforming parts.
- Help update and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and process instructions.
- Observe and learn shop floor processes, including machine setup, inspection, and part verification.
- Support ongoing continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks required.
- Familiarity with CNC machining concepts and G/M code preferred.
- Experience with Mastercam, Hypermill, or other CAM software is a strong plus.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- U.S. citizenship required due to work on defense-related projects.
