The Dean of Allied Health is responsible for the development of a collection of related disciplinary fields that include multiple nationally accredited allied health programs including:

Allied Health Workforce Programs
The Allied Health Dean is responsible for overseeing the administration of credit and non-credit health programs. Major responsibilities of the position include fostering innovation through grant and curriculum development, managing current programs, recruiting and developing qualified faculty, budget management, ongoing assessment of courses and programs, strategic planning, project management, and supervision of staff and faculty in the division. The Dean plays an essential role in the development and continued excellence in maintaining programs that feature state of the art technology, clinical application, and excellent career placement. In addition, the Dean identifies opportunities to expand programming to meet business needs in our community, deliver non-credit training per workforce requests, and offer professional and continuing education programming to incumbent workers in healthcare fields. The Dean of Allied Health indentifies and secures outside funding sources through grants and philanthropic support. This position is full-time (37.5 hours a week), 12 months, benefits eligible, and renewable term.
Examples of Duties:
•Supervises faculty members and department chairs in assigned programs.
•Creates and maintains relationships with area business and industry in health program areas.
•Facilitates and guides professional development programs for faculty members to meet program outcome goals related to enrollment, retention, completion, and fundraising.
•Manages activities and works with department chairs to assure compliance with accreditation standards to maintain appropriate individual programmatic accreditation.·
•Supervises support staff.
•Provides for and promotes instructional and curricular planning.
•Leads strategic planning efforts for the division to support the college’s established goals related to enrollment, retention, completion, and fundraising.
•Works cooperatively with college personnel from other academic divisions, student services areas, and workforce development on college-wide activities and initiatives.
•Leads efforts to recruit, select, and evaluate fulltime, part-time, and adjunct faculty.
•Manages the division budget and participates in budgetary planning for the college.
•Leads academic advising activities for the division and works with other academic divisions to train faculty on programmatic and general education requirements.
•Ensures assessment of institutional, programmatic, and course-level learning outcomes.
•Oversees completion of divisions program review and post-audit reports.
•Participates in student academic appeals and procedures as necessary.
•Leads the development of course schedules in the division each semester.
•Participates in institutional governance activities as needed.
•Evaluates and recommends faculty for appointment, promotion, tenure, and retention.
•Assures currency of catalog information for the Health division.
•Determines feasibility and recommendation of new degree programs using labor market information and industry informed practices.
•Oversees current health articulation agreements with 4-year colleges and universities and formulates new agreements.
•Oversees collaborative programs (high school and CTE).
•Advises and creates financial aid appeals.
•Acts as the liaison between healthcare facilities and the college.
•Promotes individual department activities and sustainable practices within the division
•Secures outside funding sources such as grants, donations, or incumbent worker training opportunities in the health fields.
•Coordinates and participates in all advisory committee meetings and activities within the division.
•Serves on search committees for faculty and staff.
•Attends Deans’ Council, College Leadership Council, and Academic Affairs meetings, and others as assigned or deemed necessary.
•Communicates with VP of Academic Affairs, division and department personnel regarding institutional policy, procedures, and initiatives.
•Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
•Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a health-related field. Master's degree in another related field may be accepted if combined with experience managing health-related programs.
•Minimum of five years professional experience supervising faculty at a higher education institution.
•Minimum of five years teaching experience.
•Excellent communication skills, including writing, problem-solving and mediation.
•Demonstrated experience using data to inform innovation.
•Demonstrated effectiveness in managing human and financial resources.
•Familiarity with state and national health-related credentials, licensure, and certification processes.
•Experience with grant writing and management.
•Familiarity with national accreditations processes.
Preferred Skills:
•Ability to manage effectively while maintaining a supportive working environment.
•Ability and willingness to advocate on behalf of the college, the division, and its students.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
•Experience managing accredited and non-accredited occupational and technical programs.
•Experience with the systemic plan for program evaluation of external accreditation.
•Experience in membership and leadership with state and/or national professional organizations.
•Experience managing grants.
•Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a productive and positive manner.
•Ability to work both independently and as a team.
