Controls Software Engineer

Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on industrial automation and real-time signal processing? Balance Technology Inc. (BTI) is seeking a Controls Software Engineer to write software that directly controls PLCs, sensors, and precision balancing machinery. This is not a typical desk or app development job - you’ll be developing PC-based applications that interface with industrial devices on the factory floor, where your work directly impacts machine performance and product quality.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and document real-time measurement and control software for automated equipment.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware, peripherals, and measurement sensors.
  • Ensure systems meet customer specifications and BTI quality standards.
  • Lead machine power-ups at our facility or customer sites, guiding technicians and machine builders through debugging, setup, and qualification phases.

 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field, or six years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Passionate about developing innovative solutions using C#, Visual Basic, C++, or similar languages.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of solving complex problems under tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and willing to travel up to 25% to support our clients and projects.

 

What Sets You Apart

  • Hands-on experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, test, or measurement systems (or equivalent).
  • Experience with PC-based application development integrated with industrial controls.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and see them through from concept to on-site deployment and commissioning.
