MaineHealth Psychiatric Technician Apprenticeship – Earn While You Learn!
Are you passionate about mental health and looking to start a rewarding career? Join MaineHealth’s Psychiatric Technician Apprenticeship Program and earn while you learn! This full-time, paid apprenticeship provides hands-on experience and classroom training to prepare you for a nationally recognized certification and a career in behavioral health.
What You’ll Do:
- Work as part of a behavioral health care team supporting individuals with mental illness and developmental disorders.
- Assist with activities of daily living, observe and document patient behavior, and provide emotional support.
- Learn crisis intervention, therapeutic communication, and safety protocols.
- Participate in classroom training and clinical rotations under the guidance of experienced educators and mentors.
Program Details:
- Location: Classes are held in Scarborough, ME and clinicals are onsite at MaineHealth Behavioral Health facilities
- Length: Approximately 10 weeks of classroom and clinical time prior to one year of monthly mentorship days
- Cost: Free
- Paid? Yes! Paid for 32 hours a week at $17.34/hr., plus benefits during initial classroom only period (first 4 weeks) and then $19.53/hr. for remainder of the program. Upon completion of the program and acceptance into a Psych Tech role with MaineHealth, your pay would increase again.
