Job Summary
We're growing and seeking an Assistant Project Manager (also known as Project Engineer or Construction Project Coordinator) to support major infrastructure and civil projects. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and field operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with daily construction planning, scheduling, and cost tracking.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to ensure smooth operations.
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders for accuracy and timeliness.
- Track and report production quantities, progress, and costs to support billing and forecasting.
- Manage material procurement and delivery schedules.
- Attend and document team and client meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-up.
- Partner with field teams to uphold safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Support project closeout activities and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements
Must-Haves:
- Solid experience in construction project coordination or management, ideally in infrastructure, transportation, or heavy civil construction.
- Strong understanding of field operations, cost control, and scheduling principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and construction management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, or HCSS.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Excellent organization, communication, and analytical skills.
- Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to changing project needs.
- Willingness to travel to project sites within the NY/NJ area.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with DOT, municipal, or large public works projects.
- Experience preparing submittals, RFIs, and change documentation.
- Knowledge of estimating, field reporting, or safety procedures.
