Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining Quality Control for each assigned Vogt Power International project, assuring contract requirements are met. The main focus is reviewing and approving subcontractors quality plans, including welding, NDE, and other manufacturing procedures for compliance with both VPI and customer quality specifications.  As part of these responsibilities, visits to both domestic and international subcontractors may be required to ensure understanding and compliance.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Project Quality Planning
  • Awareness of standard VPI quality requirements for inclusion in subcontractor procedures.
  • Review of project specific customer specifications to identify special manufacturing requirements for inclusion in project quality planning documentation.
  • Identify subcontracting and manufacturing required customer submittals. 
  •  Review and maintain QC documentation required for final document submittal to customers. 
• Review weekly inspection reports from third party inspectors to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Develop ASME Code Data packages.
• Assist Subcontract Managers in resolution of subcontractor manufacturing QC issues. 
• Assist in audits and planning surveillance inspection at subcontractors as necessary.
• Travel to international subcontractors may be required

Position Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science at an accredited University. Welding or Metallurgy degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of general steel fabrication practices, particularly welding and heat treatment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to clearly communicate project quality requirements and findings to customers and suppliers.
• Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Suite or equivalent process flow software.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and respond quickly to deadlines and problems requiring immediate action.
