Internship
The mission of the Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management’s (DOE-EM) University Programs creates and supports a sustainable career pathway that prepares a workforce of talented students to make immediate and significant contributions to DOE-EM. To achieve this mission, EM University Programs develop strategic partnerships between colleges and universities, investing in student enrichment programs, curriculum development, research efforts, and internship and post-graduate opportunities.
The Internship is a 10-week summer experience where participants complete research projects that are relevant to EM’s ongoing mission. The internships are supported by six U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratories as well as the EM headquarters. Projects assigned to interns are presented at the end of their internship in either poster session or paper depending on the host laboratory.
Position Summary:
The Intern will support the following objectives daily:
- Deploying new PC’s and re-imaging installed computers and laptops
- Assisting with VTC conference room hardware, software, configuration, and usage
- Installing computer accessories and AV equipment
- Research problems to aid with troubleshooting user deskside errors
- Creating end user support documentation
Minimum Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must be a US Citizen
- Must have graduated from or enrolled in a MSI
- Must be eligible for security clearance based on position requirements
- Enrolled in an undergraduate STEM program and have a current cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Majoring in computer science/ technology, information systems or networking
- Have a working knowledge of Windows operating systems (desktop and server)
- Working knowledge of Office 365 products and other standard business software.
- Identifies, investigates, resolves, and tracks end users problems with computer software and hardware (Helpdesk).
- Fields support calls, chat, email, and/or other communication from users with inquiries regarding software, network connectivity, printing, authentication, and other issues.
- Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory Management or Azure Active Directory, especially Users/Groups and Authentication a plus.

This position will require selected candidates to be able to obtain a DOE Security Clearance.
