Supervisor Production & Assembly 2nd Shift

Job Description:

 

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Supervisor Production & Assembly shift to join our small team. The role is ideal for a CNC professional who is ready to take on greater responsibility and grow as the business grows.

 

Key Responsibilities:

General

● Supervising machinists and assembly line on assigned shift.

● Ensuring compliance with occupational safety regulations and conducting all necessary training sessions (e.g., annual safety training). Conducting Risk Analysis and Safety Trainings.

● Maintaining order and cleanliness in the designated area (using the 5S method).

● Adhering to environmental and energy aspects (identifying weaknesses and initiating corrective measures, e.g. fixing compressed air leaks/oil leaks).

● Oversees logistics, packaging and customer deliveries.

● Training and onboarding of new employees.

● Assessing the qualification level of employees (qualification matrix) and initiating qualification measures as needed (in collaboration with the production manager).

● Initiating and monitoring activities to ensure proper equipment conditions and to secure planned production quantities.

● Properly executing and monitoring bookings of raw and finished parts.

● Ensuring a correct shift handover to the subsequent shift, including shift documentation.

● Ensuring the availability of materials for the assembly line.

● Lead daily meetings (e.g. Shopfloor) and informing management about the current situation.

 

Machine Operation

● Setting up machines according to the plan.

● Performing dimensional corrections in collaboration with the technical department.

● Implementing NC programs in collaboration with the technical department.

● Performing maintenance tasks and repairs in accordance with qualifications, including fluids.

● Recording and documentation produced quantities and process disruptions.

 

Tool Management

● Ensuring and documentation of tool changes.

 

Quality

● Perform CMM measurements and SPC measurements according to inspection plans and measurement programs and comparing actual results to CAD data.

● Initiating and monitoring activities to ensure quality and audit compliance.

● Ensuring compliance with production requirements (e.g. initial part release, adherence to work instructions).

● Inspection of material received.

● Leading, supporting, and monitoring continuous improvement activities (CIP).

 

Qualifications:

 

● High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in machining / manufacturing preferred.

● 5+ years of hands-on CNC machine experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment. Experience with Chiron Machines, Robot Automation Cells, and Siemens Controls is preferred.

● 2+ years experience in a supervisor role required.

● Experience with quality control procedures and the use of precision measuring instruments is essential. Experience with Zeiss CMM preferred.

● Strong mechanical knowledge and experience with machining processes.

● Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.

● Ability to use hand tools, forklifts, and gantry cranes.

● Demonstrated ability to mentor others, resolve production challenges, and lead by example.

● Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. A self-starter willing to roll up their sleeves
