Log Scaler
Log Scaler: Primary duties and responsibilities include safely operating loaders, handling/sorting logs, loading by-product trucks, stacking rough cut lumber by dimension, species and grade.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Unloading log trucks.
- Properly handle, roll out, and store logs in inventory.
- Become proficient in log scaling and tagging of logs.
- Follow established procedures to document and track the receipt, movement, and sale of logs.
- Clean up Log yard as needed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Learn and be proficient at operating a chainsaw.
- Learn the shipping LT system for green lumber transfers and 3rd party sales.
- Assist receiving, loading, selling, and shipping lumber process.
- Other duties as required by the manager
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Competencies:
- Must follow all established safety policies. Must have good safety record and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Be adaptable, work where needed as required
- Must be able to work any shift -- overtime, weekends, holidays as required and in all conditions.
- Capable of completing required documentation
- Able to work as a team, get along with team members; give and take advice and criticism from other team members
- Cross train in other production related jobs
