Electroplating Intern
Summary
Supports the Engineering and Chemistry teams by collecting and validating data related to plating and rework processes. The internship focuses on optimizing gold usage, improving plating surface quality, and enhancing process consistency through data-driven analysis and validation testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect data to compare the cost of reworking parts versus adding or subtracting gold from parts.
- Analyze data to determine optimal rework percentages that maximize gold savings without compromising quality.
- Conduct tests to evaluate the effects of plating time and current density on copper plating performance.
- Assist with cross-sectioning plated parts to evaluate plating surface characteristics.
- Validate cross-sectional data with XRF (X-ray fluorescence) results for accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with operators and engineers to gather process data and understand plating operations.
- Create charts, graphs, and reports summarizing test results and performance trends.
- Document findings, methodologies, and conclusions for process improvement recommendations.
- Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
- Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
- Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
- Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
