Structural Engineering Modeler Position

In this position you will join our growing Structural Engineering Design Group.  We provide structural engineering designs for projects of all types of structures from small residential renovations to large hospitals, schools, bridges and industrial facilities.  Most of our projects are located in the mid-west region but many are increasingly in other regions of the United States.   Project Design teams, depending on the project can consist of Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical design groups all working together through good communication to deliver a successful project design.

At NCE, Structural Engineering Technicians play a key role in our structural group.  They are responsible for the layout, modeling, drafting and detailing of the structural support systems for the project.  These systems are directed and overseen by the engineer(s) and coordinated with the entire design team for each project by the technician with the assistance of the engineer(s)

Key Responsibilities

  1. Communication and collaboration with the design team and project engineer(s)
  2. Layout and drafting / modeling of the structural framing systems for the project.
  3. Edit the model / documents with engineer input as the project progresses.

Key Tools Used

  1. Autocad and REVIT by Autodesk – in-house training is available
  2. MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams)
  3. Bluebeam pdf editing software

Qualifications

  1. Must be self-motivated to work hard and be eager and able to learn.
  2. Technical Degree or work experience related to Architecture and / or Structures
  3. Strong Computer Software Skills and at least 1 year experience with Autocad, Revit or other computer aided drafting software
  4. Strong communication skills

 

The position is a full time (40) hour per week position including employer sponsored health insurance, paid vacation, retirement benefit plan and paid family health time.
