The Department of Health Informatics & Information Management in the College of Health Professions has an opening for a Graduate Instructional Assistant (GIA) for the Spring 2026 semester. This position may support faculty on both the San Marcos and Round Rock Campus locations teaching on-campus and online courses.

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty members with student engagement, grading, and instruction for on-campus or online undergraduate courses
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Communicate effectively with students and faculty both verbally and in writing
  • Provide excellent customer service to students and faculty
  • Complete tasks with attention to detail and schedule

Requirements

  • Full-time graduate student with regular admission to a graduate degree program at Texas State University, without conditions
  • Good academic standing, not on probation or suspension
  • Enrolled in full-time graduate hours
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong skills with Canvas and Zoom

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a GIA or working with health information
  • Current MHIM students are preferred and encouraged to apply
  • Students in the College of Health Professions or a healthcare-related discipline
  • Students taking classes on the Round Rock Campus are preferred
  • Students in computer science, data science, or computer information systems with an interest in the healthcare field are welcome
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Python, SQL, and data management tools
