Responsibilities:
The Technology Summer Legal Assistant will work directly with partners, associates, patent agents, paralegals, administrative and docketing staff in our IP practice group, and our external clients, on patent application filings and related projects. The Technology Summer Legal Assistant is expected to work with attorneys and legal staff to understand the client’s technology to develop patent filings and assist lawyers in giving legal advice to clients. The Technology Summer Legal Assistant will work directly with attorneys and other legal staff to deliver the excellent client experience for which Morgan Lewis is known.
Responsibilities:
- Searching the prior art and preparing patentability overviews
- Preparing written descriptions of technology for review by attorneys, patent agents, and inventors
- Conducting research
- Coordinating with patent searching and drawing professionals
- Preparing materials for pre- and post-patent application filing activities
- Attending invention disclosure meetings with attorneys and clients
- Organizing, assembling, and updating prior art repositories
- Reviewing and analyzing various materials for patentability assessments
- Maintaining, organizing, and indexing application files
Desired Majors / Minimum Qualifications + Skills:
Rising Juniors and Seniors; computer science/electrical engineering/mechanical engineering/computer engineering
Interview Process:
_We will have interviews with attorneys and professional staff in our Philadelphia based IP team. We are looking for a candidate interested in the IP field, who has strong skills in analytical thinking, problem-solving, critical reading, writing and editing, verbal communication, listening, and research.
