Gilda's Club Grand Rapids is a free emotional health support community of children, adults, families, and friends on any kind of cancer journey or those grieving a death due to any cause. Its comprehensive program, delivered by professionals, includes education, structured sharing times, networking, lectures, workshops, and social activities. Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids is one of the largest and busiest of the 44 affiliates in North America. Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids is seeking Fundraising and Development Interns. Join a seasoned Vice President of Fund Development and participate in hands on experiences that will enhance your studies. Fundraising and development interns are responsible for assisting with the organization’s overall fundraising strategy and goals for special events. Internships can be further tailored to fit the student’s goals and objectives. Our team at Gilda’s Club can provide learning opportunities for donor solicitation (individual and corporate), event management, and communications.
This is an unpaid internship; however, a $500 stipend can be provided upon successful completion. We work with the intern to best establish a schedule that is mutually beneficial. Experience may count toward school credit.
This internship is set up to support three areas:
- Event Management- Gilda’s Club hosts its annual LaughFest and Red Door Gala in March. Be a part of the planning for this extra special community event that will celebrate free cancer and grief support. Key components of this work will include data management, solicit area businesses and provide logistical support and leadership oversight of event volunteers.
- Communications- Gilda’s Club and Gilda’s LaughFest have many communication touch points for event attendees. Interns will provide support in this process through database management, helping to ensure all donors are coded correctly for receiving communication, and development of useful content for the E-newsletters and letters.
- Data Analyzes- The final piece of this internship will include working on data analyzes to help Gilda’s Club understand and study the ROI for the year-end campaign. This project will be in conjunction with the VP of Development and will be made into a presentation to share with our Fund Development sub-committee of the Board of Directors.
