Architectural CAD Technician

POSITION: Part-Time Architectural CAD Technician
LOCATION: Melville, Long Island NY (Hybrid – office + field work)
COMPANY: Hillcrest Design Group

Who We Are
Hillcrest Design Group is a boutique architectural firm specializing in thoughtful, human-centered commercial and residential design. We pride ourselves on being hands-on, collaborative, and rooted in craftsmanship. Every project is an opportunity to create spaces that bring inspiration, clarity, and meaningful experiences to everyday life.

We are growing and are looking for a talented Architectural CAD Technician who is eager to learn, contribute, and take ownership in the design and documentation process.

The Role
As our Architectural CAD Technician, you’ll work directly with the Principal Architect to support design development and create high-quality construction documents. Your work will help bring concepts to life—from initial sketches all the way to the build.

What You’ll Do

Produce and manage architectural drawings in AutoCAD for residential and commercial projects.

Conduct measured field surveys across Nassau, Suffolk, and the 5 Boroughs.

Assist with design presentations, including renderings, sketches, and interior finish boards.

Prepare drawing sets for permitting, bidding, and construction.

Contribute to design discussions and help refine project solutions.

What You Bring

Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (required).

Experience with Autodesk Architecture 2025, SketchUp, and/or Adobe Creative Suite (a plus).

Currently pursuing or completed a B.S. in Architecture, with 2+ years of drafting or design documentation experience.

Strong attention to detail, curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset.

Ability to self-manage, problem-solve, and follow through.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique

Work directly alongside the Principal Architect with mentorship and professional development.

Exposure to a broad range of project types and phases, not siloed drafting.

Opportunity to grow in responsibility, hours, and creative involvement over time.

A meaningful role in a growing, design-driven studio.
