About the Role
The UC Irvine Graduate Division is seeking a motivated and creative undergraduate student to join our communications team as a Social Media Coordinator. In this role, you’ll help us share the stories of UCI’s graduate students, programs, and events across multiple platforms. This is a hands-on opportunity to build your professional portfolio, gain real-world communications experience, and contribute to the success of UCI’s graduate community.
Responsibilities
- Create engaging and original content for Graduate Division’s social media channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok).
- Assist with content calendars and scheduling posts to ensure consistent and timely communication.
- Capture and edit photos and short-form video content (e.g., Instagram Reels).
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and foster online community.
- Track and report basic analytics to assess growth and engagement.
- Support coverage of events such as Grad Slam, Graduate Welcome, and professional development workshops, recruiting events
- Collaborate with the communications team to align posts with division messaging, branding, and goals.
Qualifications
- Must be a current UC Irvine undergraduate student in good academic standing.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook).
- Creativity and an eye for design (experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools is a plus).
- Photography/videography skills are preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Interest in higher education, storytelling, and student life.
