Security Operations Intern

We're hiring a driven Security Operations Intern to join our positive, passionate, and high-performing Information Security team focused on helping protect ModMed’s environments through monitoring, incident response support, and documentation. This is an exciting opportunity to get real-world exposure to enterprise cybersecurity tools and processes within a fast-paced Healthcare IT company that is truly Modernizing Medicine! 

Your Role:

  • Assist with daily security monitoring by reviewing alerts and events from tools such as SIEM, GuardDuty, and MSSP, and escalating suspicious activity to senior analysts.
  • Support incident response activities, including documenting and tracking incidents and observing containment/remediation steps led by the team.
  • Conduct threat intelligence research on emerging threats and vulnerabilities from internal and external sources and summarize key findings for the team.
  • Learn and assist with basic configuration or usage of security tools (ticketing systems, monitoring dashboards, reporting tools).
  • Maintain logs, reports, and process documentation to support the Security Operations function.
  • Follow established security procedures and escalate questions or findings to senior team members.

Skills & Requirements:

  • A current student enrolled in an Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related field — or a recent graduate.
  • Ability to work full-time (preferred), Monday–Friday during the internship term.
  • Ability to work onsite in our Boca Raton, FL headquarters.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Demonstrated interest in information security/cybersecurity and eagerness to learn.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to follow established processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and collaborate with multiple internal teams.
  • Nice to have (not required): familiarity with basic cybersecurity concepts (malware, phishing, network defense), exposure to security tools, or coursework/certification in progress, such as CompTIA Security+.
