Junior Portfolio Manager

Summary Description

This individual will train closely with the Trust & Wealth Management Division Portfolio Managers to obtain the various skills and expertise necessary for transition into a Portfolio Manager. They will assist with the implementation of the overall investment function within the Investment Policy guidelines and learn to manage a book of portfolios for assigned relationships. The actual time for progression to become a Portfolio Manager will depend on the individual's skill set and knowledge level.

 

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with Portfolio Manager group to develop skills necessary to independently manage client portfolios and client relationships
  • Learn department's techniques associated with asset allocation of client portfolios
  • Learn department's processes involved with direct purchase, sale and redemption of investment securities
  • Obtain working knowledge required for adherence to regulatory and compliance policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and assist with daily monitoring of the Divisions approved securities lists (equity, mutual fund, exchange traded fund, etc.)
  • Assist Portfolio Managers/Business Development Officers with the preparation of meeting materials to review financial objectives and account performance for existing clients
  • Accompanies and supports Trust Portfolio Managers when meeting existing and prospective clients
  • Assist Trust Portfolio Managers with special projects as identified and assigned
  • Participate in various community related activities and functions

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Familiarity with a broad range of trust and investment markets preferred
  • Willingness to complete additional education as assigned
  • Overnight travel may be necessary on a limited basis
  • Work is generally performed indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
  • Typically, the employee may sit to perform the work. However, there may be some standing, walking, bending and carrying of light items in the course of the work
