Design and Manufacturing Intern
The Engineering Technology and Outdoor Product Design & Development (OPDD) programs are seeking a motivated and skilled on-campus Design and Manufacturing Intern to support collaborative industry projects. The intern will work directly with faculty and partnering companies to design and prototype products that range from outdoor gear and apparel to mechanical components and assemblies. This position provides hands-on experience in applied product design, prototyping, and documentation within an industry-focused academic environment.
Qualified candidates should be juniors or seniors enrolled in either the Engineering Technology or OPDD program and possess strong proficiency in SolidWorks. Experience in either the sewing lab or manufacturing lab is required, as the position involves building and testing prototypes using both soft- and hard-goods materials. The intern will assist in the creation of detailed manufacturing documentation, including technical drawings, material specifications, and assembly instructions, ensuring designs are ready for production. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain real-world design and manufacturing experience while contributing to active partnerships between USU and industry leaders.
