Mechanical Engineering Intern

KWA is an MEP Engineering Firm in the Mid-Atlantic region providing design, commissioning oversight and consulting expertise in the healthcare, telecommunications, higher education, laboratory/research, government sectors, and facilities / mission critical data center environment with the mindset to provide reliability, energy efficiency, sustainable design and LEED expertise when providing these MEP consulting services.

Mechanical Engineering Intern - Baltimore, MD

Responsibilities:

Mechanical design of projects, create designs and plans, provide and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering design role, handle multiple simultaneous projects in wide variety of projects with mechanical and plumbing distribution systems for educational, industrial, health care, laboratory, commercial core and shell buildings and tenant interior fit-out projects.

  • Provide cooling and heating load calculations, air and water distribution system pressure drop calculations
  • Provide plumbing calculations and provide equipment selection.
  • Prepare Calculations, and perform field inspections
  • Autodesk CAD and Revit, experience preferred but not required
  • Preferred working knowledge of word, excel, and windows
  • Filing, scanning and organizing of project record documents
  • Organization of long term storage.

Qualifications:

  • * 2-4 years of relevant collegiate studies in an ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • U.S. citizenship for purposes of obtaining potential clearances.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to successfully work independently
  • Self Starter, self-motivated, and should prioritize well.
  • Possess a current state-of-residence driver’s license.

Work Environment:

  • Working hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a 1 hour lunch break 12:00 to 1:00.
  • 80% to 90% office design with 10% to 20% field survey and coordination.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, roofs, etc.
  • Inspect below desks, ductwork, pipes, etc.;
  • Lift 50 lbs.
