Human Resources Intern - College of Communication and Information
About the Office:
The College of Communication and Information (CCI) is structured to prepare students for professional careers in the broad fields of communication and information. It is composed of four distinct schools: the Tombras School of Advertising and Public Relations, the School of Communication Studies, the School of Information Sciences, and the School of Journalism and Media. CCI offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees, with key undergraduate majors including Advertising, Communication Studies, Information Sciences, Journalism and Media, and Public Relations. CCI has several non-academic units as well, such as the Office of the Dean. The HR Intern will work alongside the Office of the Dean's HR team to serve the College's faculty, staff, and student employee population.
About the VOLinternship Program:
The VOLintern Program is UTK's on-campus internship program. Each internship will run for the duration of one academic semester. About the Internship:
As an HR Intern for the College of Communication and Information (CCI), the selected candidate will provide administrative and operational support to the college's human resources functions, gaining practical experience within an academic setting.
Internship Responsibilities:
- Support the onboarding of new employees.
- Handle general HR administrative tasks and respond to employee inquiries.
- Support employee engagement initiatives.
- Maintain and update HR records, including personnel files.
- Assist with streamlining existing HR processes.
- Special projects and other related duties assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related program of study.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams and Outlook applications.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- A proactive, detail oriented, and adaptable mindset with a passion for HR.
