Software Engineering Intern

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and testing of software for space electronics systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain hands-on experience in software development for high-reliability applications in the space industry. This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about embedded systems, real-time software, and aerospace technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and testing of software for spacecraft electronics and embedded systems.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of real-time software solutions for space applications.
• Support the integration of software with hardware components and assist in debugging efforts.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with engineers to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Document software development processes, test cases, and technical specifications.
• Conduct research on emerging technologies relevant to space electronics systems.
• Work within a structured development process adhering to industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.
• Understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), or low-level software development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Familiarity with software development tools, version control (Git), and debugging techniques.
• Knowledge of space systems, aerospace software development

On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance. 

Academic Credit

Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.
