About the VOLinternship Program:
The VOLintern Program is UTK's on-campus internship program. Each internship will run the duration of one academic semester. Students will be able to gain real work experience without leaving campus! About the Internship:
The social media internship in the College of Arts and Sciences Office of Communications creates, curates, and manages content for multiple departmental social media platforms. The position provides hands-on experience in digital communications, brand storytelling, and strategic audience engagement in an academic environment. The intern will be part of the college communications team and collaborate with department faculty and staff to highlight student achievements, faculty scholarship, academic programs, and department events while maintaining alignment with the college’s messaging and university brand standards.
Internship Responsibilities:
- Assist departments with creating social media campaigns that promote academic programs, faculty scholarship, and student success stories.
- Develop and schedule engaging social media content for department platforms (primarily Instagram and LinkedIn).
- Attend departmental events to capture content for real-time or future posts.
- Track analytics and engagement metrics to evaluate content performance and suggest improvements.
- Collaborate with departmental faculty, staff, and students to identify storytelling opportunities.
- Ensure all content aligns with the university’s visual identity, tone, and accessibility standards."
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student at UT
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X)
- Creativity and attention to detail in visual and written content
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
