Education Program Coordinator

Position: Education Program Coordinator - Volunteer Opportunity in the Amazon Rainforest

Length of Contract: 3 to 9 months with flexible start date

About Manna Project International: Embark on a transformative journey with Manna Project International (MPI), a U.S.-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operating in Ecuador. Join us in the Amazon Rainforest, collaborating with the Kichwa Indigenous community to drive positive change in health, education, and livelihoods.

Education and English Teaching Focus: As a Program Coordinator, you will not only experience the rich culture of the Amazon but also gain hands-on English teaching experience. This includes:

  • Researching and implementing educational programs for ages 5-adult.
  • Lesson planning and creating goal orientation for small groups.
  • Organize and run conversation hours, afterschool tutoring, and computational literacy.
  • Conducting needs assessments to address educational challenges and absences at the community level.
  • Leading workshops on health, nutrition, sports, English, arts, and more.
  • Running after-school fitness programs for children.
  • Supporting local initiatives in the public school system.
  • Contributing to various programs, including English teaching, public health, WASH, gender equality, and entrepreneurial growth.

Responsibilities: Your role as a Program Coordinator goes beyond daily operations; you'll be at the forefront of impactful initiatives. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing community development programs with a focus on education as the basis for social change.
  • Strengthening local and international partnerships to enhance educational outreach.
  • Collaborating with team members to improve the reach and effectiveness of education-related programs.
  • Training incoming Program Coordinators for sustainable progress.
  • Fundraising for education-focused programmatic development and living expenses.

  • Patience and flexibility, especially in a developing country.
  • Spanish skills preferred but not required.

Note that this is an unpaid position and PCs will have to cover their living costs in the Amazon Rainforest. Scholarships are available to support historically underrepresented groups in education abroad
