Data Analytics Intern

Reports To: Data Analytics Team Lead

OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION (ONC) seeks to reduce partisanship and promote effective solutions to America’s challenges. Powered by America’s youth, we host a media outlet, produce educational materials and facilitate dialogue intended to make America a better country.

 

Job Description: Our National Conversation is building a youth-led, nonpartisan solution and discussion platform for American policy issues. We take into account some of America’s most pressing issues and aim to foster civil, solutions-striving dialogue represented in media.

 

As a data analytics intern, you will help our organization better understand its performance and prospects on a variety of metrics. These include website traffic, social media performance, event participation, and the diversity of perspectives represented in our content.

 

This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. This intern must commit to the end of the Fall semester (December 20th, 2024). However, many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to, provided their performance meets the required standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on a team of 4-6 interns led by a Team Lead.
  • Compile reports analyzing the performance of ONC’s content & events.
  • Develop and conduct monthly polls tracking demographic and opinion information among ONC’s participants and affiliates.
  • Research and compile reports on public opinion data to help identify consistent partisan skews in content produced by ONC.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations based on research data compilations.
  • Prioritize ONC's commitment to nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil debate.

 

Requirements: The Data Analytics Intern should have the following skills, education, and experience:
 

  • Working towards a degree in Statistics, Data Analytics, Political Science, Economics, and/or related fields, with an interest in Data Analytics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English) are required
  • Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict
  • Enthusiasm for ONC’s mission and values, including a willingness to participate in polite debate with people of diverse and opposing political perspectives
  • Ability to work remotely and independently to meet specific deadlines
  • Google Workspace experience preferred
  • Experience in policy research, political commentary, political science, or a related field preferred
  • Ability to attend the Organization-Wide meetings every week on Zoom
  • Ability to attend the weekly Data Analytics team meeting
  • Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
