Program Coordinator
Position: Program Coordinator - Volunteer Opportunity in the Amazon Rainforest
Length of Contract: 3 to 9 months
About Manna Project International: Embark on a transformative journey with Manna Project International (MPI), a U.S.-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operating in Ecuador. Join us in the Amazon Rainforest, collaborating with the Kichwa Indigenous community to drive positive change in health, education, and livelihoods.
Public Health and WASH Focus: As a Program Coordinator, you will not only experience the rich culture of the Amazon but also gain hands-on Public Health and WASH (water, health, and sanitation) experience. This includes:
- Researching and implementing health programs at the community level.
- Conducting needs assessments to address health and sanitation challenges.
- Leading workshops on health, nutrition, and WASH practices.
- Running after-school fitness programs for children.
- Supporting local Public Health Clinics.
- Contributing to various programs, including English teaching, gender equality, and tutoring.
Responsibilities: Your role as a Program Coordinator goes beyond daily operations; you'll be at the forefront of impactful initiatives. Responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing community development programs with a focus on public health.
- Strengthening local and international partnerships to enhance health outreach.
- Collaborating with team members to improve the reach and effectiveness of health-related programs.
- Training incoming Program Coordinators for sustainable progress.
- Fundraising for health-focused programmatic development and living expenses.

- Self-starter with autonomy and excellent communication skills.
- Patience and flexibility, especially in a developing country.
- Spanish skills preferred but not required.

Note: This is an unpaid position and Program Coordinators are responsible for their own living costs. MPI offers limited scholarships for relevant applicants and is happy to collaborate to make your time in the Amazon accessible.
