Wolf Educator Intern Year-long

Position: Wolf Educator Intern – Year-long term

Location: International Wolf Center, Ely, Minnesota

Duration: August 3, 2026 – August 29, 2027 (dates may be somewhat flexible to accommodate academic calendars and programming needs)

Hours:40+ hours per week including work on evenings, weekends, and holidays

Stipend: $2,000 per month (does not include housing)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct wolf education and natural history programs for the public and groups
  • Teach large and small groups as well as answer wolf and natural history questions from visitors
  • Lead interpretive hikes and field trips
  • Assist in program development for people of all ages
  • Respond to wolf information inquiries by phone and e-mail
  • Create projects for the education department as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Please note: Due to the nature of our socialized pack, interns do not have direct contact with ambassador wolves.

Qualifications:

  • BS/ BA or three years’ coursework in environmental education or related field
  • Teaching experience / experience working with the public
  • English language fluency and effective communications skills in working with people of all ages
  • High level of self-motivation and enthusiasm
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required and valid driver’s license required
  • Authorization to work in the United States required
