Choir Director
The Village of Grafton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Choir Director to provide instruction, monitor, and educate participants at our Senior Center on singing, while maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere.
This position can range from 1.5 - 8 hours per week, and the starting hourly rate is $17.87.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
Teaches scheduled rehearsals, beginning and ending on time, provides adequate warm-up, singing and instruction
Instructs participants on musical parts and accompanies songs on the piano
Prepares appropriate music and handouts for each class
Coordinates holiday and spring performances with local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains a positive singing experience
Ensure safety standards are met and department and facility policies are followed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification preferred
SKILLS:
Knowledge of teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, cueing technique, and rhythm. Ability to be professional and motivate choir participants. Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members and the public.
