Role Summary:
We are seeking a driven and customer-focused Sales Representative to help grow and strengthen our relationships with steel mills and industrial customers. This individual will play a vital role in identifying new opportunities, maintaining existing accounts, and aligning customer needs with our operational capabilities.
The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator who is eager to learn about a new industry and enjoys developing long-term relationships. The Sales Rep will gain cross-functional knowledge — from production and plant operations to logistics and supply chain processes — to better serve customers and contribute to company growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and expand strong relationships with steel mills and industrial clients.
- Collaborate with management to execute strategic sales plans and meet revenue objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities through market research, networking, and industry engagement.
- Conduct regular customer visits, presentations, and follow-ups to ensure satisfaction and build trust.
- Gain a working understanding of company operations, production capabilities, and product specifications.
- Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to align customer requirements with delivery and production schedules.
- Prepare and deliver quotes, proposals, and sales agreements in line with company policies.
- Track and report on sales activity, customer feedback, and market trends.
- Assist in resolving customer concerns by liaising with quality, logistics, and production teams.
- Support senior leadership in pricing discussions and contract negotiations.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings.
- Continuously expand technical and industry knowledge through company-provided training and on-the-job learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, business, engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience or education in raw materials, metallurgy, or the steel industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle customer issues effectively.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the day.
- Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs; frequently up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel independently to customer sites and meetings (up to 50% travel).
- Must be able to pass pre-employment criminal background check and 10-panel drug screening.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Exempt salary position beginning at $65,000 per year with bonus potential of up to 10%.
