Position Summary
The Industry Relations Intern works closely with the Industry Relations team to connect with Michigan and Florida dairy farmers and dairy community members to share the work of dairy promotion activities and our mission to grow trust in dairy and dairy farming and increase sales of dairy food. This work is done through written communication, in-person meetings, developing and giving presentations and assisting the team in developing other tactics to reach the dairy community. The intern will also support and participate in events and additional projects related to Industry Relations as assigned.

- Active enrollment in college or university, in pursuit of Communication, Marketing, Journalism, or Dairy Science or related master’s degree preferred
- Availability of 30 hours per week
Duration: May 2026 – August 2026, or fall semester 2026
Roles & Responsibilities
- Attend organization, partner, and consumer promotional events, as needed, representing Michigan and Florida dairy farm families, complying with organization messages, policies, and image; may require limited evening, weekend, and overnight travel as deemed necessary.
- Completes all administrative duties, such as hour & mileage tracking, reporting results of program reach, and more as assigned according to company policy.
- Actively participates in brainstorming and project planning meetings, contributing ideas and innovative approaches to outreach during team meetings, and supports organization programming that coordinates with the Unified Marketing Plan.
- Works primarily with the Industry Relations team with the opportunity to collaborate with Industry Outreach, Marketing & Communications, and Graphic Design departments.
2026 Potential Opportunities include:
- Develop materials that show dairy farmers their investment in checkoff programs, may include e-newsletters, social copy, and articles.
- Create presentations for team members to use when communicating with the dairy community.
- Revise dairy farmer promotion toolkit, using creative ideas to help dairy farmers connect with consumers.
- Assist the IR team in developing a plan to create a digital audit of Michigan and Florida dairy farms.
- Identify and communicate on-farm stories to the consumer audience.
- Gather information by conducting interviews and demonstrate compelling storytelling.
- Attend & assist in planning of Industry Relations events
- Work in collaboration with Marketing/Communications, Youth Wellness, Nutrition Outreach, Business Development and Graphics departments.
- Manage multiple projects with varying timelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Office 365 - Familiar
- Adobe Creative Cloud- Familiar
- Bilingual in English / Spanish is a plus.
