Patient Care Specialist
Position Summary:
The Patient Care Specialist (“PCS”) role offers the opportunity to grow and manage a psychiatric practice specializing in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation ("TMS"), a breakthrough treatment modality for the treatment of depression. The PCS oversees clinical aspects of the business with direction from the Associate Director of Clinical Operations or Practice Manager.
With regards to clinical duties, the PCS administers TMS treatment to patients; trains and manages TMS technicians; participates in performance evaluation process of TMS technicians with oversight from the COM or PM; oversees clinical care of TMS patients; and is the liaison between the psychiatrist and the patients – including completing weekly rounds with the psychiatrist. The PCS will be trained by the COM, PM, and Medical Director on all aspects of TMS.
The PCS position is perfect for an individual who desires to make a difference in patient care with a breakthrough medical treatment for depression, OCD, and anxiety and grow a burgeoning business.
Responsibilities:
- Become certified to administer (we provide all necessary training) and thereafter administer TMS treatments.
- Coordinate patient schedules, including new patients and follow up appointments.
- Provide support during treatment to patients struggling with depression or anxiety.
- Monitor all aspects of the patient experience during patient care, including troubleshooting and resolving issues with patient comfort, coil contact, and TMS system setup throughout treatment.
- Administer psychiatric rating scales.
- Document patient notes in EMR system.
- Conduct weekly clinical rounds with prescribing psychiatrists and periodic clinical rounds with the Medical Director.
- Meet with the Medical Director and COM to ensure compliance and adherence to the clinical standards of care.
- Assist in the TMS training and certification of new prescribing psychiatrists.
- Train TMS Technicians within the site.
- Collaborate with the Practice Manager to manage Technicians, including staff scheduling to ensure sufficient coverage of treatments, participating onboarding process, conducting regular one-on-one meetings to ensure alignment of expectations, and collaborate on performance reviews.
- Complete monthly TMS patient follow up calls as appropriate. Schedule and write patient notes in EMR system.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required
- Two or more years of experience in a customer or patient-facing role is preferred
- Management/leadership experience preferred
- Experience in a health care setting with direct patient care is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred
