Job Summary:
The College of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, fixed-term, Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.
Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated; however, higher rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position will teach in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program in the College of Pharmacy at Oregon State University and provide professional pharmacist support to the Drug Use Research and Management (DURM ) group under their intergovernmental agreement with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA ). DURM supports the Oregon Fee-for-service Medicaid program by administering the OHA’s Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee, evaluating drug utilization, offering drug information and policy analysis, and providing Medicaid provider education and drug therapy consultations. This agreement furthers the University’s mission by providing service and analyses to benefit the citizens of Oregon by promoting high quality cost-effective drug therapy for Medicaid patients. This position contributes to quality improvement and Drug Use Review programs designed to promote safe and effective use of medications. The incumbent will develop a clinical practice with the DURM group that supports scholarship and teaching, as well as provides service to the University and the profession. This position will add to clinical faculty in the College with a passion for education and clinical excellence.
The OSU College of Pharmacy has two campuses. This position is located on the Portland campus, which is also closely affiliated with Oregon Health & Science University. Key Responsibilities
30% Teaching Teach in the therapeutic and pharmacy practice sequences for professional program students. This position is focused in psychiatry and mental health, but faculty are expected to teach throughout the PharmD program. Provide clinical instruction as a preceptor for clerkship students and at co-curricular activities.
40% Practice Clinical service will be in the College’s DURM group to 1) provide research, analysis and reporting on drug use patterns and trends; and 2) provide research, analysis, development, revision, and reporting of drug use educational programs and interventions, including provider profiling, academic detailing, and order change forms. This position will support and expand education and outreach efforts to Medicaid providers, with a focus on mental health medications.
15% Scholarship Engage in peer reviewed scholarship. Seek external funding and disseminate scholarly work on an ongoing basis. Opportunities for collaborative research are available.
15% Service
Serve on college and university committees and contribute to the missions of Oregon State University and Oregon Health & Science University, including diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Provide service to the profession.
What You Will Need
• PharmD degree from a school or college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE ).
• Completion of Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency and a Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) residency or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
• Proficient in oral and written English.
• Evidence of creativity and self-motivation
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated commitment to supporting diverse perspectives.
• Eligibility for pharmacy licensure in Oregon is required. The incumbent is expected to be an Oregon-licensed pharmacist within 6 months of hire.
For individuals seeking the rank of Associate Professor (Clinical): Candidate should meet the criteria for appointment at the desired rank as detailed by the OSU Promotion & Tenure guidelines. OSU will consider previous years of experience at similar institutions towards the timeline for rank promotions.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
Preferred Qualifications for either Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical):
• PGY2 residency in psychiatric pharmacy
• Advanced training or clinical experience in drug information, program evaluation, pharmacy benefit management, drug use management or psychiatric pharmacotherapy
• Previous faculty experience.
• Evidence of or commitment to excellence in inclusive teaching or student success.
• Certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties, ideally Psychiatric Pharmacy Specialty Certification (BCPP )
Preferred Qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor (Clinical)
• Sustained contributions to the peer reviewed literature and ability to secure extramural funding
• A demonstrable commitment to the mentorship of junior faculty

The person in this position will work in a healthcare environment, with human body fluids, with controlled substances, and in a laboratory.
