Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Long-Term Substitute Nurse to join our team at the CATTARAUGUS-LITTLE VALLEY CSD. Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to students with varying health conditions, administering medications, treatments, and emergency interventions as needed.
- Monitor student health status by assessing vital signs, symptoms, and overall well-being, utilizing your knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and proper documentation of all healthcare activities.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, school staff, families, and healthcare providers to develop individualized health plans that support each student’s unique needs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare policies, including HIPAA privacy standards and state nursing regulations.
- Educate students and staff on health-related topics such as hygiene practices, medication management, and emergency procedures.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies or incidents on campus, providing first aid or advanced nursing care as required.
- Assist in maintaining a safe school environment by conducting routine health inspections and safety audits related to student health concerns.
Qualifications/Experience
- Proven experience in patient care within a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical documentation practices.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive medical records.
- Prior experience working with children or adolescents is highly desirable.
- Certification as a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) is required; additional certifications in CPR/First Aid are preferred.
